News Release - NYAC hosts 19th Annual Top 20 Stars of Tomorrow Awards Ceremony

The National Youth Action Committee (NYAC) will host the nineteenth (19th) annual Top 20 Stars of Tomorrow Awards which will be held on Wednesday 11th June, 2014 at the Eric Williams Auditorium, La Joya Complex, St Joseph. This event will commence at 10am.  


The Top 20 Stars of Tomorrow Award Ceremony is a highly prestigious event which seeks to showcase both the positive achievements and talent of our young people in Trinidad and Tobago.

The programme will highlight the outstanding achievements of young people in Trinidad and Tobago over the past year.

Awards will be presented for performances of excellence in various activities and disciplines, including sports, academics, culture, community service, science and technology and the arts. A major highlight of the event will be the special awards to our nation's top twenty artistes in various cultural art forms presented during the past year. These talented young artistes will be specially awarded.

We believe that the cultural art forms can and should play a very positive and effective role in influencing the lives of our youth. As such, the artistes that have been listed amongst the Top 20 have been carefully selected based on their excellence.

          Some of those awarded in the past include:-Athletics- Trinidad and Tobago Athletic Team (Olympic Silver Medalists); Darren Ganga – Cricket; Katija Khan – Community Service; George Bovell - Swimming; Akhenaton Daaga- Youth Leadership; Jesse Boocock – Golf; Kenwyn Jones – Football; Carus Palmer – Visual Arts; Shivana Ragoonanan – Music (Steelpan); Giselle Salandy – Boxing; Surendra Surajdeo Maharaj – Science & Technology and the Signal Hill Alumni Choir; to name a few.

In the past, feature addresses have been delivered by such noteworthy figures as the late Archbishop of Port-of Span, Rt. Rev. Anthony Pantin; Mungal Patesar. Furthermore, in 2004, we were honoured to have the President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, President Prof. George Maxwell Richards as the feature speaker to open the function.

NACC announces Order of Appearance for Young Kings finalists

The National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) wishes to announce the order of appearance for the 2016 National Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition, which will be held on Monday 25th January at Queen's Park Savannah, POS from 7:30pm. The Young Kings competition is the nation's second longest running national calypso competition. This year, twenty-one artistes will be competing for the prestigious crown, in the show's 32nd national finals. The order of appearance is as follows.

Duane Ta’zyah O’Connor and Kerine 'Tiny' Williams Win 2016 Emancipation Competition Crowns

DUANE TA'ZYAH O'CONNOR   is the winner of the first prize in the 5-17 age group of the Emancipation Calypso Competition hosted on Tuesday 26 th July, 2016, by the National Action Cultural Committee in association with First Citizens and the National Youth Action Committee, at City Hall, Knox Street, Port-of-Spain.
