32nd Annual African Liberation Day Dinner to be held

 AFRICAN LIBERATION DAY DINNER

The Caribbean Historical Society will host the 32nd Annual African Liberation Day Dinner on Friday 24th May 2014 at the Andre Kamperveen Hall, Centre of Excellence, Macoya, from 7:30 pm.

May 25th 1963 is the day on which the newly independent states on the African continent established the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), with its headquarters at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Although the Organisation of African Unity was changed in 2002 to the African Union May 25th was still retained as African Liberation Day.

In 2003, the African Union amended its constitution in order to clarify its relationship with the African Diaspora which is now considered to be the 6th region of Africa.

Since 1982, the CHS has been commemorating African Liberation and the institution looks forward to hosting another successful and enlightening commemoration of the African Liberation Day.
