Results of The 15th Annual Calypso & Extempo Competition

 
Timel Rivas was the winner of the first prize in the 5-18 age group of the Emancipation Calypso Competition hosted yesterday (Friday 29th July) by the National Action Cultural Committee in association with First Citizens and the National Youth Action Committee, at the SWWTU Hall, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. Caston Cupid was the winner of the 19 – 32 age grouping.

Fireball was the winner of the extempo competition, with Nkosi Anyika placing second. Third place was Phil Browne and fourth place Sarah Cobbler. The results of the competitions, are as follows:

5-18 age group

1st place – Timel Rivas – They Just Can’t Take It
2nd place – Cavel Gordon – True Emancipation
3nd place – Ferdinand Smith – Celebrate
4th place – Emily Allen – My Africa’s Freedom
5th place –  Khalifa Baisden – Emancipation Morn

9th place – Shaquille Simmons – A Chant for Emancipation
10th place – Sasha Ann Moses – One Day Africans

19-32 age group

1st place – Caston Cupid – Remember the Struggle
2nd place – Khadija Antoine – Ah Had To
3rd place – Megan Walrond – Woman My Hero
4th place – Sergio Francisco – We Troddin’
5th place – Jermeeka Mundy – Free Yourself
6th place – Phil Browne (Philman) – Oh Oh
7th place – Melissa Williams – True African
8th place – Catherine Williams – Queen Nzinga
9th place – Vornique Benjamin – Thank God For Freedom
10th place – Kirt Ross -  Black Beauty

2016 Stars of Tomorrow finalists announced

 The National Youth Action Committee (NYAC) is pleased to announce the twenty (20) finalists for the 2016 Stars of Tomorrow Calypso Competition, which will be held on Saturday 9 th January, 2016, at Daaga Hall, UWI, St. Augustine. National Calypso Queen Competition 2015

NEWS RELEASE Ife Alleyne is the new National Calypso Queen. She won the National Calypso Queen Competition hosted by the National Women's Action Committee (NWAC) on Monday night (19 th January), at Queen's Hall, with a selection entitled " Child of Liberty ".
