It is with a deep sense of loss, that the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) informs the nation of the passing away, on Sunday 11th January 2015, of Brother Anum Bankole at the Port of Spain General Hospital after a recent illness. Brother Bankole, a foundation member and former Vice President of NACC, was well known for his work in the field of culture. He was instrumental in the organizing of major cultural events hosted by the National Action Cultural Committee such as the Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition, Top Twenty Stars of Gold Calypso Award Ceremony, The Emancipation Calypso Competition, Black Tradition in Arts andvarious Annual Community Cultural Rallies held in various parts of the country.
As a long standing part of the community of Belmont, he was heavily involved in various activities within the Belmont community whether social, cultural or political.
Brother Bankole’s passion for the arts saw him becoming a member of the Queen’s Hall board which allowed him to extend his contribution to the development of the cultural life of Trinidad and Tobago. He also had a passion for cultural exchange and enjoyed various opportunities of sharing his experiences and knowledge of the arts within various national and international forums.
Brother Anum Bankole will be greatly missed by the National Action Cultural Committee, the cultural fraternity and our nation as a whole. A condolence book will be opened to the public at the offices of the National Cultural Action Committee, 40 Duke Street, Port of Spain from 10 am. A wake will also be held at the NACC’s offices on Friday 16th and Sunday 18th January.
