Audition Dates for the 2016 National Calypso Queen, Young Kings and Stars of Tomorrow Competitions

December 1, 2015 News Release Auditions' dates for Young Kings, National Calypso Queens and Stars of Tomorrow Competitions Announced The National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) and the National Women Action Committee (NWAC) will host the auditions for the ' Young Kings Calypso Monarch' and the 'National Calypso Queen' Competitions, from 11.00 am on Saturday 12 th December 2015 and Sunday 13th December, 2015.

Top 20 Stars of Gold 2015

MEDIA RELEASE The National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) is pleased to present the list of the Top 20 Calypso Stars of Gold (attached). The 'Top 20' Awards are awards of distinction and represent the pinnacle of achievement for excellence in calypso composition and our system of adjudication seeks to tap our collective wisdom in order to establish national consensus about the essence of truly great calypsoes. The Award ceremony for the "28 th Annual Top 20 Stars of Gold and Calypso of the Year" will take place on Friday 13 th November 2015 , at the Central Bank Auditorium, Eric Williams Plaza, Port of Spain from 8.00 pm.

News Release - Postponement of the Emancipation Calypso Competition

Please find below a release from the National Action Cultural Committee.   1 st October 2015   FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                   NEWS RELEASE POSTPONEMENT OF THE EMANCIPATION CALYPSO COMPETITION     The National Action Cultural Committee (NACC), and the National Youth Action Committee (NYAC) wish to announce the postponement of the Emancipation Calypso Competition to a date next year. The organizers apologize to any affected parties for any inconvenience caused. However after discussions with both participants and sponsors, the organizing committees believe that this decision is in the best interest of all concerned. Consequently, the competition's auditions that were originally carded for Saturday 3 rd October have therefore been cancelled. News Release: Registration and Auditions for Special Emancipation Calypso Competition

                          NEWS RELEASE 19 TH ANNUAL EMANCIPATION CALYPSO COMPETITION REGISTRATION The National Action Cultural Committee (NACC), and the National Youth Action Committee (NYAC) in association with First Citizens announce that registration for the 19 th Annual Emancipation Calypso Competition is now taking place everyday at the office of the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC), 40 Duke Street, Port of Spain from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.  This year's competition is a special one. For this Special Emancipation Calypso Competition , calypsos will be accepted if they are composed either  on the usual theme of Emancipation, or on the new topic of the United Nation's ' International Decade for Peoples of African Descent' . Auditions for the competition will be held on Saturday 3 rd October 2015 at NACC's Offices: 40 Duke Street. Port of Spain from 11.00 am - 5.00 pm.

NACC hosts its 33rd Annual Emancipation Day Dinner

News Release The National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) hosts its 33 rd Annual Emancipation Day Dinner at the Andre Kamperveen Hall, Centre of Excellence, 176 Macoya Road, Tunapuna on Friday 7 th August 2015, from 8.00 pm. This annual dinner is one of NACC's commemorative events, to mark the Abolition of Chattel Slavery throughout the then existing British Empire on August 1st 1834, a most significant development in the struggle of a people to free themselves from the shackles of slavery, colonialism and neo-colonialism. It serves as a mark of respect and recognition, for all those who fought and sacrificed for the attainment of liberation not only for their generation but for generations to come. The dinner will be attended by members of the diplomatic community, as well as the leadership of various national institutions, including business, military, political and social organisations. Each dinner continues to provide a unique opportunity for reflection

31st Annual Young Kings Prizegiving

NEWS RELEASE The prize-giving ceremony for the 31 st Annual Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition will take place this weekend. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by the finalists, and by other artistes of outstanding achievement. This year's ceremony will be held on Sunday 19 th April at the Audio-visual Room NALIS, Port-of-Spain. The programme will commence at 6:00 pm. NEWS RELEASE CALYPSO PIONEERS and CALYPSO JEWELS COMPETITIONS 2015 The National Youth Action Committee hosted the Calypso Pioneers competition sponsored by First Citizens and the Calypso Jewels competitions at the Grand Stand, Queens Park Savannah on Tuesday 3 rd   February. The Calypso Jewels competition was won by Aaron Duncan, whilst Zakiya Grant won the Calypso Pioneers competition. Aneka Collins captures the 2015 Calypso Junior-Pathfinder crown

NEWS RELEASE  Aneka Collins is the winner of the 2015 Juniors - Pathfinders Competition organised by the National Youth Action Committee. The competition was held on Thursday (29 th January), at SAPA. She won with a selection entitled " More Than A Colour" . Young Kings Order of Appearance

FEBRUARY 1 ST , 2015 NEWS RELEASE Young Kings Order of Appearance The NACC, the organizing body of the Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition, is pleased to announce the order of appearance of this year’s finalists. This year’s Young King Competition is in tribute to the late Bro. Anum Bankole, former Chairman of the committee. Bankole passed away on January 11 th , earlier this year. The competition takes place this Monday, at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah from 7:30pm. Calypso icon David Rudder will be delivering a guest performance, as well as the SANFEST Dance Category winner the New Butler Associate College Dancers. The chairpersons of the event are 2012 National Calypso Monarch Duanne O’Connor and Dr Phaedra Pierre. For further information, interested persons can call 623-5470 or 222-3471. Passing of Bro Anum Bankole

News Release It is with a deep sense of loss, that the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) informs the nation of the passing away, on Sunday 11 th January 2015, of Brother Anum Bankole at the Port of Spain General Hospital after a recent illness. Brother Bankole, a foundation member and former Vice President of NACC, was well known for his work in the field of culture. He was instrumental in the organizing of major cultural events hosted by the National Action Cultural Committee such as the Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition, Top Twenty Stars of Gold Calypso Award Ceremony, The Emancipation Calypso Competition, Black Tradition in Arts andvarious Annual Community Cultural Rallies held in various parts of the country.
