NACC
hosts 26th Annual Top 20 Stars of Gold Awards
The National Action Cultural Committee
(NACC) will host the 26th Annual “Top 20” Stars of Gold and Calypso
of the Year Awards Ceremony on Sunday 12th January 2014, at the Queens Hall, St
Ann’s, Port of Spain from 5.00 pm. This gala event hosted
by the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) will highlight and honour
twenty of the best calypsoes by local artistes for 2013.
The feature address of
the ceremony will be given by the Honourable the Chief Justice of the Republic
of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Justice Ivor Archie.
This year’s show will be hosted by Mr. Errol
Fabien.
This award ceremony was
introduced by the NACC in 1988 in order to develop greater respect and
appreciation for the art form of calypso and those involved in the art. It has
served to provide a standard of excellence to which our writers, composers and
other artistes aspire.
Awards will be
presented by leaders from various institutions representing a wide spectrum
within the society including the Clergy, Business, Diplomatic Corps, Education,
Political, Military, Science and Technology and the Arts.
It is an event that calypsonians and those associated with the
art form look forward to, as they recognise the honour which is bestowed upon
their works and the high esteem in which the event and what it represents, is
held. The Top 20 selections are based on excellence in lyrics, music and
originality of composition.
